We told you about it in December, and this weekend it's finally happening: Souvla, the popular Greek eatery based in Hayes Valley, will open up its second location on Divisadero this weekend.

The former Herbivore spot at 531 Divisadero St. has been transformed into a light and airy space, with plentiful indoor and outdoor seating.

Owner Charles Bililies first opened Souvla in Hayes Valley back in 2014. Almost immediately, seats filled up and long lines began forming for the rotisserie meats, pita wraps and frozen Greek yogurt.

"The biggest thing is we didn't design the Hayes restaurant to do the volume that we now do," Bililies told Eater SF last year. "We thought we would be doing one-fifth of the volume we now do." The new location will increase capacity with 60 seats, as compared to the original spot's 40.

What won't change much is the menu: rotisserie chicken, pork shoulder or lamb dishes can be served either wrapped in pita bread, or as a salad bowl. Fries, a green salad and soup are offered as sides, with the popular frozen Greek yogurt served up for dessert.

Greek wine, beer, and traditional retsina will round off the menu, along with Greek iced teas, sparkling water and sodas.

The Souvla team plans to open the doors "sometime this weekend," so swing by to check out the new addition. Once the doors open, hours of operation will be 11am -10pm, seven days a week.
