Suspect Pleads Guilty, Will Testify In Golden Gate Park And Marin KillingsPhoto: alancleaver/Flickr

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that one of the three people arrested for the murders of Audrey Carey, a Canadian backpacker found killed in Golden Gate Park last year, and Marin therapist Steve Carter, who was found shot dead on a hike two days later, has struck a deal to plead guilty to the second-degree murder of Carter.

In exchange, suspect Sean Michael Angold will be implicating fellow suspects Lila Scott Alligood and Morrison Haze Lampley, who were also arrested last year in connection with the killings. A second-degree murder conviction carries a sentence of up to 15 years to life in prison.

The suspects allegedly stole Carter's keys and used his 2003 Volkswagen Jetta to escape the scene of the crime, but Marin County sheriff's investigators tracked the car via GPS to Portland, OR, where they were arrested outside of a soup kitchen on October 9th. Items belonging to Carey were allegedly in their possession as well.

According to the Chronicle, preliminary hearings will proceed on May 9th, at which point Angold is expected to testify.

Prior to the two murders last summer and early fall, Alligood, Lampley and Angold had spent time in the Upper Haight.
