House of Pancakes at 937 Taraval St. (between 19th and 20th avenues) has reopened, after being shut down by the Department of Health on May 10th.

"The inspector found an infestation of mice at this facility," the DPH's Nancy Sarieh told us. "After the business cleans and sanitizes contaminated areas and seals all holes that are allowing vermin in, they will be able to reopen."

According to DPH's records, the restaurant has taken care of three of the seven violations inspectors found earlier, including the high-risk vermin infestation, unclean hands or improper use of gloves, and unclean non-food contact surfaces. Four others have yet to be resolved, including unclean or unsanitary food contact surfaces, which are considered to be high-risk.

The popular restaurant specializes in Northern Chinese cuisine, with dumplings, noodles, and the eponymous "pancakes": beef rolls filled with beef, cilantro, and scallions.

We scheduled an interview with the restaurant's owners to discuss the violations, at which they did not appear. Staff at the restaurant declined to answer our inquiries, directing us back to the owner.
