Upper Haight Week: First Thursday, Mother's Day Brunch, Morning Yoga, MorePhoto: R. A. Schuetz/Hoodline

It's the first week of the month, which means we're ready for the weekend a little early. Here's what we've got this week.

Tonight's First Thursday, so that means you've got a few options. Aviator Nation will have a performance by Midnight Sons starting at 8pm. Admission is free, and they'll have free beer.

Another First Thursday option is Shipwreck, the literary fanfiction series at Booksmith. [Full disclosure: this writer runs Shipwreck.] This month's book will be Alice in Wonderland

And the Red Vic will have its monthly art opening. This month, they're featuring Deadeyes, an East Bay painter, muralist, and installation artist.

Also, it's Mother's Day on Sunday, and Sparrow Bar & Kitchen is planning a special brunch menu. One item will be smoked Mt. Lassen trout hash with béarnaise & parmesan latkes—here's the link for reservations.

The fun continues into next week, including yoga this Saturday, music at Milk Bar, and Bob Boilen at Booksmith. For dozens more events outside the neighborhood, or to submit your own, head on over to hoodline.com/events.
