BDK Replacement 'Tratto' Set To Debut On Geary This MonthPhotos courtesy of Puccini Group

Adding to a growing list of cocktail destinations coming this summer to the Tendernob, Tratto is set to debut this month at the corner of Geary and Taylor.

As we previously reported, Puccini Group took over operations of the restaurant at The Marker hotel, currently BDK, from Kimpton Hotels and is preparing an Italian overhaul.

According to a press release issued this afternoon, Tratto will be a "rustic Italian" neighborhood bar.

The kitchen, with the hotel's executive chef Kevin Scott (formerly of Nob Hill's The Big 4) at the helm, will offer small plates and communal dishes inspired by the Italian “aperitivo” or happy hour. Expect a selection of pastas, pizzas, seafood and seasonal veggies, and classic Italian desserts like ice cream, gelato and sorbet for dining in or take-out.

At the bar, there will be 12 to 15 traditional Italian cocktails with modern twists, in addition to West Coast beers on draft, as well as bottles of California and Italian wines and beers, housemade limoncello varieties and Italian cream sodas.

In addition to offering a "Californian interpretation of classic Italian design," the space will showcase the work of San Francisco artist Amos Goldbaum, known for his T-shirts inspired by local landmarks and murals around the city. As the restaurant's first "artist-in-residence," he's created panoramic cityscapes featuring Sutro Tower and the Transamerica Pyramid for the main dining room, and murals depicting the "rituals and processes of food-making" for the private dining room, which seats up to 26.

As for the restaurant's name, Puccini Group notes that “tratto” means "the stroke of a pen or a mark in Italian" and was chosen as a nod to the neighborhood’s artistic history and the name of The Marker.

Tratto will be open for breakfast and dinner daily, as well as weekend brunch. We'll let you know once the official opening date is announced.
