Temple In Patricia's Green To Be Taken Down Next WeekPhoto: Nuala Sawyer/Hoodline

It's been a year since artist David Best installed the wooden temple on Hayes Valley's Patricia's Green, and next Tuesday, the towering structure is being taken down.

Within weeks of opening to the public, the interactive art installation had already filled up with messages, phrases and quotes. Benches were brought in to provide a seating area, and despite some wear and tear after 12 months in the park, it's still a draw for tourists and neighborhood residents alike.

Members of the the SF Arts Commission and the Hayes Valley Neighborhood Association's Arts, Culture and Entertainment Committee are currently deliberating on next piece of art for the park. We'll let you know what it'll be after a decision has been made.
