On Wednesday night just after 9pm, a man riding a bicycle was struck by a car in North Beach on the corner of Filbert Street and Columbus Avenue. The driver fled the scene eastbound on Filbert Street, and there is no suspect identification at this time.

A neighbor named Jorell, who did not wish to give his last name, witnessed the aftermath and said the cyclist was riding on Columbus Avenue when a car making a turn onto Filbert Street "T-boned him."

SFPD and SFFD arrived at the scene shortly after the collision and transported the victim to a hospital in an unknown condition.

Jorell told us that he has reached out to District 3 Supervisor Aaron Peskin's office before about the dangers the intersection poses for pedestrians and cyclists.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the SFPD Anonymous Tip Line at 415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with "SFPD."
