As a first step in moving its headquarters from Mission & South Van Ness to North Beach, Goodwill has closed its As-Is Store, located on 11th Street between Market and Mission. As of today, patrons will need to travel to the As-Is Store in Burlingame (1801 Adrian Rd.) to purchase clothing and other used goods by the pound.

Bargain hunters will be pleased to hear that Goodwill’s flagship store, at 1580 Mission St., and the adjacent donation center are expected to remain in place through the end of this year. But the departure of the As-Is store will have an impact: the San Francisco Public Press reported this week that its closure poses an economic threat to the city’s low-income and homeless population, many of whom dropped in daily to purchase goods to sell on the streets.
