First responders are on the scene at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. Information is still coming in, but police scanners indicate that first responders have found "remnants of a barrel bomb" on the fifth floor. On social media, several people claim to have heard gunfire following the explosion.

As of a few moments ago, tactical teams have completed a sweep of the building. Teams with explosive-sniffing dogs are responding to the scene, and an unknown number of civilians are sheltering in place.
Police are restricting access to Potrero Avenue as more units respond to the scene and have secured the building, preventing anyone from entering or exiting.
Update, 3:20pm: UCSF reports via Twitter that evidence of illegal fireworks has been discovered:

SFPD has confirmed the discovery of an M80 firecracker inside the hospital:
