The San Francisco Fire Department reports that a rescue is currently underway to recover a construction worker who fell 50 feet from a cliff near Coit Tower. The victim, who fell during cliff shoring work, is still conscious, according to SFFD.

The worker was likely involved with the second phase of SF Public Works' Telegraph Hill Rock Slope Improvement Project, which began earlier this year. The project consists of rock-slope repair, rock excavation and slope stabilization below Coit Tower and along a side of Chestnut Street which saw a rockslide in December 2014.

Update, 9:05am: Rescue workers are navigating what SFFD calls "difficult terrain" to extract the victim, who remains conscious.

Update, 10am: The victim has been rescued and transported to SF General Hospital with injuries, according to the SFFD.
