With the help of a diverse panel of community members and stakeholders, the Tenderloin Community Benefit District is ready to select a new light installation to implement on Larkin Street by the end of next year. The deliberations will be held tomorrow night, and all are invited to watch.

As we've previously reported, the TLCBD has teamed up with Oakland-based nonprofit Our City on a community review process for a light-centered public art installation. The intention of the project is to beautify Larkin Street, lure crowds from Civic Center to Little Saigon, and help improve safety in the area.

Over the past couple of months, three teams of finalists have been gathering feedback from community members and refining their proposals, and from 5-8pm tomorrow (Wednesday, July 13th), they'll make their final presentations to the CBD at UC Hastings' Snodgrass Hall (198 McAllister St.)

At the public event, jury of experts and community members will decide which of the three projects will receive $2,000 to develop a full proposal, which the CBD will then use to raise funds for implementation.

Can't make the event? Check back here Thursday for details on the winning proposal.
