Upper Haight Week: Ed Ruscha Exhibit, Alvord Lake Cleanup, Music, MoreFrom "Standard Station," 1966, Ed Ruscha. Collection of FAMSF.

It's set to be a sunny weekend in the Upper Haight. Here's what's going on around the neighborhood.

If you're feeling like getting your art and culture on, this weekend is a great chance to catch the new Ed Ruscha exhibition at the de Young museum after the opening-week crowds have died down. The show ($20 adult, members free), which opened last weekend,  features 99 works highlighting Ruscha's famed engagement with the mythic American west.

Quoth the de Young: "Nine sections reveal Ruscha’s fascination with the evolving landscape and iconic character of the 'Great American West' in symbolic, evocative, and ironic renditions."

Don't forget that Saturday morning from 9am to noon is volunteer day at Alvord Lake—rain or shine—for those who want to spend a beautiful morning outside making their local park look great. The crew meets at Haight and Stanyan; bring outdoor-appropriate clothing.

And next Sunday, July 21st will be the San Francisco Marathon, so if you're hankering for a picnic in the near future, you'll want to get yours in this weekend.

Here's your full repertoire of Upper Haight weekend events and a look at the week beyond. Check out citywide events or submit your own at hoodline.com/events.
