Upper Haight Week: Harry Potter, Psych Rock, & BluegrassPhoto: Cheryl Guerrero

The unquestionable créme de la créme in events this weekend—at least for fans of the Harry Potter universe—is the release of Harry Potter & The Cursed Child, the brand-new series follow-up (which is also a play) about a fully-grown Harry, Hermione, and Ron and their children. The Booksmith will be celebrating Saturday night with an adults-only wizard school Shipwreck, as well as a Sunday-morning release brunch.

Saturday night at Milk Bar is the record release for LA-based Frankie And The Witch Fingers (tickets $8). Quoth the band: "Each song is a fuzzed-out pop trip! With mystical lyrics and a strong vocal delivery, the Witch Fingers conjure the vibrations and patterns of the first psychedelic ere. But they don't merely recreate the sonic spectrum of the '60s. These are new sounds and heavy new ideas."

Sunday, again at Milk Bar, is "Bluegrass and Beyond," a four-band lineup with Sans Souci Duet, The Next Of Kin, Hovering Breedcat, and The Beauty Operators. The show starts at 4pm, and admission is free.

And don't forget that this Sunday is the San Francisco Marathon, which means that traffic is going to be diverted off of Haight Street (details here).

Here's your full roster of Upper Haight weekend activity. As always, you can check out the full lineup for citywide events and submit your own at hoodline.com/events.
