3 Spots to Stargaze Around Montreal

Stargazing isn’t exactly the first activity that comes to mind when you live in the city. But unlike a trip to the movies or a shopping spree at the mall, viewing the night sky doesn’t require you to empty out your wallet. Simply head to these city spots to watch the stars majestically dot the sky:

1. Parc Mont Megantic
Located at the heart of the Dark Sky reserve, Parc Mont Megantic is home to the AstroLab, an astronomy center, which holds a variety of stargazing events. It’s worth the 2 1/2 hour drive. 189 Route du Parc, Notre-Dame-des-Bois.

2. Parc Maisonneuve
Although Parc Maisonneuve isn’t the best place to stargaze, the trees within the urban park can block out enough street light for you to see some stars. 4601 Rue Sherbrooke E.

3. Morgan Arboretum
Within the forested reserve of the Morgan Arboretum in the West Island, you can find the observatory of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (Montreal Centre). Members can join the society’s regularly scheduled stargazing outings. 150 Chemin Des Pins, Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue.
