'Bayview Uncorked' Spotlights Neighborhood Wineries, Breweries, Distillers For CharityPhoto: Bayview Underground Food Scene/Facebook

There’s a major food and beverage movement happening in the Bayview, and this coming Tuesday, everyone's invited for a taste. Bayview Uncorked, “a tasting event for locals by locals,” celebrates the neighborhood's ever-growing array of winemakers, craft distillers and brewers, with food from a handful of local restaurants.

At the event, hosted by Andrea Baker Consulting, attendees will be given a commemorative glass at 3rd Street Village, the neighborhood's “pop-up gallery,” as well as a map to the three tasting locations: Radio Africa & Kitchen, Auntie April's, or Old Skool Cafe. Each location will feature live music and handcrafted beverages from a total of 10 local wineries, breweries and distilleries, including Seven Stills, Gratta Wines, SF Mead Company, Ferment.Drink.Repeat, and more. A ticket also buys dinner at attendees' choice of one of the three eateries.

A portion of Bayview Uncorked's proceeds will benefit the 3rd Street Youth Center & Clinic (1728 Bancroft Ave.), which provides young adults in the Bayview with healthcare, counseling, and job training to improve their physical and emotional well-being.

“'Grateful' is the only word I can think of when the opportunity to support us was brought forth," said the clinic's executive director, Joi Jackson-Morgan. "How often does this happen for nonprofits—especially ones in Bayview?"

Proceeds from the event will support programs like The Village, a support group that helps young mothers figure out parenting, and Health Core, which supports youth who want access to sustainable jobs in healthcare.

"We’re often marginalized, so it’s nice to have someone acknowledging the good work that we’ve done over time," said Jackson-Morgan
