We've got some health and safety updates in addition to the ongoing coverage of Castro crime since our last roundup, including the debut of a new urgent care clinic and changes coming to Jane Warner Plaza. On the crime side of things, the neighborhood saw some hot prowls, vehicle arson, and a stand-off with police. Read on for the latest (all reports below come via the SFPD, unless otherwise noted).

GoHealth Urgent Care Clinic Opening

Last week, we updated readers on GoHealth Urgent Care Clinic's plan to move into the former RadioShack space at 2288 Market St. The Castro clinic, the first of at least three planned locations in San Francisco, will have a soft opening today, August 1st, with a grand opening event on August 9th.

The clinic, operated in partnership with Dignity Health, will treat patients seeking relief from minor ailments like bee stings, wrist fractures, or a nasty burn.

Jane Warner Plaza Changes Coming Soon

Hoodline wrote a story last week on changes coming to Jane Warner Plaza, a spot that gets its fill of both public appreciation and scorn. The changes include the return of tables and chairs, a new light installation, pavement replacement, and the introduction of plaza "stewards." These stewards, subcontracted through Larkin Street Youth Services, will manage the furniture, keep the plaza clean, remind people not to smoke, greet and assist performers and vendors, welcome visitors, and serve as an extra set of eyes and ears on the plaza.

Vehicle Arson

On July 19th at 6:15am, the SFFD responded to a vehicle fire with significant damage near Dorland Avenue and Church Street. They determined that the vehicle had been intentionally doused in flammable liquid and lit on fire. No suspect has been identified.

Sanchez Hot Prowl

A 40-year-old male was in his home near Sanchez and 17th on July 20th when he heard a noise at 12:03am in his garage area. When he looked outside his window, he saw an unidentifiable suspect fleeing with his property. No arrest was made, and the suspect stole two bicycles.

Eureka Hot Prowl

An additional hot prowl occurred on July 23rd near Eureka and 20th streets at 12:40am. The victim, a 67-year-old female, found that a male, 20-30, had entered her home, stolen a laptop, and fled in an unknown direction. No arrest has been made.

Family Fight Leads To Barricaded Stand-Off With Police

On July 25th, a family was having a verbal argument in a residence near Cumberland and Church at 9:14pm. Police were called, as one family member, a 13-year-old who has autism, had a knife. The situation ended with no arrest or injury.

Robbery With Gun

A 26-year-old female was robbed at gunpoint on July 30th at 2:10am, near 19th and Castro. A man and woman, both in their 30s, approached the victim and struggled for her purse. One suspect held a handgun, and the victim heard a clicking sound. She let go of her purse and the suspects fled on 19th Street. No arrests were made.

Upper Market Street Safety Project Moving Forward With Final Proposal

We've had readers covered for some time with news and updates on changes being made to the busy and complicated intersections of Upper Market Street. The SFMTA recently shared the news that they're moving forward with their final proposal for the Upper Market Street Safety Project. We'll have a story on the final proposal this week, but for now, you can see the full scope of the project on the SFMTA website.
