This weekend, the Conservatory of Flowers is embarking on a new late-summer series designed to bring the best of its indoor exhibits outside.

Through September 24th, the conservatory will be trucking out unusual goodies from its collection for the public to view eac Friday and Saturday, from 1-4pm. The goal is to allow parkgoers to see a few of the conservatory's offerings without paying admission or trekking inside.

What exactly is in store? Some oddities include "the enormous seed pod of the double coconut" and a display of carnivorous plants, said Nina Sazevich, spokeswoman for the conservatory.

Each weekend will feature a rotating special guest. This weekend, they'll have an "orchid doctor" on hand to solve your household orchids' maladies. Future installments will include coffee bean botany with Wrecking Ball Coffee, and "cacao to chocolate" with Dandelion Chocolate, who will "share how they roast, crack, sort, winnow, grind, conch, and temper small batches of beans and then mold and package each bar by hand," Sazevich said.

The full roster of offerings for coming weekends is still growing, so you'll want to check back to see what's what.
