If comedy is your thing, then you'll enjoy the days ahead with a free movie night at Washington Square Park, and both a former late-night talk show host and an Emmy-award-winning comedian and actress performing in the neighborhood.

It all starts with Arsenio Hall performing Friday and Saturday night at Cobb's Comedy Club (915 Columbus Ave.). The long-serving comedian—who has done everything from hosting the MTV Video Music Awards (1988-1991) to hosting his own late night show in the 1990s to making cameos on Chappelle's Show—will perform two sets each night, with tickets starting at $27.50.

The laughs continue on Saturday when Film Night in the Park returns to Washington Square Park with a showing of Lost in Translation, starring Scarlett Johansson and Bill Murray. The show begins at dusk, and attendees are encouraged to picnic beforehand. Just don't bring chairs—the organizers are hoping to prevent any lawn damage.

The focus returns to Cobb's on Sunday and Monday, when award-winning actress, comedian and onetime Green Party presidential candidate Roseanne Barr performs two sets each night. Tickets start at $35.

Finally, there will be a celebration to remember local journalist and community leader June Osterberg at the Barbary Coast Restaurant (478 Green St.) on Tuesday, September 6th.

Elsewhere around North Beach, the family of the woman critically injured by a falling tree limb in Washington Square Park is looking for donations to help with mounting medical bills. The Chron has a look at the interactive Speakeasy production that will take place in the neighborhood this fall, while SFGate takes a look at the secrets and misadventures involved in the history of Coit Tower.

Now, on to our editor's picks for the days ahead. For a full list of what's going on around town this weekend and beyond, don't forget to check our hoodline.com/events.
