Shane Brodie, a local Bay Area artist and activist, will be posted up at Jane Warner Plaza this afternoon to protest the naked Trump statue that was placed in the Castro last week. You may have also spotted Brodie last weekend in a lone protest against body shaming.

(Update, 10:20am: Brodie writes on Facebook that he's come down with a cold, and won't be appearing in the neighborhood today.)

Although Brodie, a transsexual man, self-identifies as being shy, he proudly stood in the nude and held signs that read “my manhood is my heart,” “I love my fat body,” and “I define who I am.” He will do the same today.

Brodie told us this:

“I became very despondent after I saw how people were making fun of the Trump statue's physical characteristics, which are identical to my own (e.g. fat, no testicles, small hands, small genitalia). So, I decided to go to that same spot and show my naked body. As a presidential candidate, I think we should judge Mr. Trump by his ideas and actions, not by our prejudices about what his body may look like.”

Update, 8/28, 1pm: Brodie has posted on Facebook that he'll be out to complete the planned protest at 2pm today (Sunday). "You are welcome to join me as a nude celebrant to counter the body shaming represented by the Trump statue debacle, or please feel free to be there as a supportive bystander."
