Outer Sunset Week: Pickles & Preserves Class, Women's Networking Happy Hour, Live Music, MorePhoto: Lawton Trading Post

The Outer Sunset is on the edge of San Francisco, but there's nothing marginal about it—the next several days are rich with opportunities to learn new skills, support the arts and broaden your horizons.

Lawton Trading Post transitioned from being a market and deli to a community space in May, and this week, owner Ruth Selby is offering two reasons to visit her revamped space. Tonight at 6pm, Rusty Ladle Soup Factory will do a dinner pop-up, along with an acoustic musical performance by Anastasia. Soup fans are encouraged to "come by for a warm bowl for dinner!"

On Sunday, a jamming and pickling class will teach attendees how to safely and economically preserve sweet and sour dishes. "Potential flavors include tangy red plum preserves, zucchini garlic dill pickles, vanilla bean peach jam, and spicy pickled peppers," according to instructors.

The workshop costs $50; to sign up, email [email protected] with your name, email and dietary restrictions, and don't forget to bring an apron.

Here's a look at what else is going on in the Outer Sunset over the next week. For more activities around town, visit hoodline.com/events.

Do you have an event to promote? List it for free on the Hoodline events calendar to reach a wide audience inside (and outside) your neighborhood. Submit your event details and we may even feature it here next week.
