If you thought Outside Lands was the only thing worth leaving the house for this weekend, think again. Quite a bit is going down in and around the Tenderloin this weekend.

First off, if you're looking to fill a whole in your schedule tonight, consider stopping by Emperor Norton's for a happy hour benefiting the neighborhood's homeless population. From 4-6pm, Project Homeless Connect is teaming with ThinkThank.org and a team of volunteers to share information on services available and handout to homeless residents of the Tenderloin. After that, the whole group is heading down to Emperor Norton's to enjoy a signature cocktail—in which all sales from 6-7:30pm will go toward supporting  Project Homeless Connect's continued efforts.

Tomorrow, the Tenderloin's NAKA Dance Theater is giving folks a good reason to pop into City Hall. At noon, the interdisciplinary performance group is presenting their piece RACE free of charge under the rotunda. Commenting on civil disobedience surrounding the Olympic Games, the performance brings to life "the refusal to be swept aside in the quest for dignity and well-being."

Adding to the lineup of experimental performance art this weekend is Faultline Theater's "The Ice Cream Sandwich Incident" at PianoFight. In a nod to National Ice Cream Sandwich Day, which was this past Tuesday, the play features "a team of oddballs" on an "experimental space mission" that faces a series of "ice cream related catastrophe strikes" and turns to "daytime tv, sex ed, and the extraterrestrials" for assistance. If that's not intriguing enough, the entire play takes place on a giant two-story space station that's taken over the stage.
