Fell Street DMV Puts A Halt To After-Hours and Weekend ParkingPhoto: Stephen Jackson/Hoodline

Starting tonight, September 30th, cars will no longer be authorized to park in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) parking lot at Fell and Broderick streets after hours or over the weekend. You may have already noticed the sign below:

The DMV's assistant deputy director of public affairs, Jessica Gonzales, told us that the DMV has ended its parking lot use agreement with DIVIS Parking, LLC (a.k.a. Panhandle Parking), the vendor that used the lot to rent out parking spaces after hours and over the weekend.

The DMV did not comment on why the agreement was terminated, and we were unable to reach Panhandle Parking for more information.

Gonzales also said that the DMV is looking into other possible options for future after-hours and weekend use of the parking lot, but nothing is set in stone as of yet. We'll keep you posted as more details emerge.
