The morning commute on the 5-Fulton and the 5R was thrown into chaos this morning after a 5R bus driver allegedly struck a female pedestrian while turning left on McAllister Street at Fillmore. Tipster Rose M. also told us that someone was struck. The woman is believed to be conscious, but the extent of her injuries is unclear.

Buses have been backed up by the incident, with many morning commuters complaining of late 5 and 5R buses on Twitter. Muni is attempting to reroute buses around the area.

We've reached out to SFPD to learn more about the woman's condition, and will update when we hear back. If you have more information, you can send us a tip or text us at (415) 200-3233.

Update, 9:23am: Tipster F.L. said he also had a safety incident with a 5-Fulton bus at the same intersection around 5pm yesterday evening.

I was very lightly hit on my left elbow by a bus while waiting and not moving at the small green bike lane for the light to turn green. Driver did not behave nicely when I tried to tell him to be careful (and respect California law - 3 feet away from cyclists). I filed a report already. It's hardly a collision, but I reported that he should be more careful when passing cyclists ... It is very scary, this whole neighborhood should be redesigned for safety.

Update, 10:14am: SFPD confirmed the collision, noting that the victim was a woman aged 30-40. She was conscious and breathing when medics arrived, but a police representative could not comment further on her condition, or whether she was hospitalized.

Tipster Shanan D. saw the collision occur, and said that the pedestrian was crossing on a green light as the bus turned left from Fillmore onto McAllister at a low speed. The driver "did not appear to see the pedestrian," who was "alert but in pain" after being struck.
