Better Know Your Local Police With Friday's Casual 'Coffee With A Cop'Photo: SFPDCares/Twitter

Have crime and safety concerns you'd like to get off your chest? Want to better know some of the men and women in blue that patrol your neighborhood?

This Friday, Oct. 7th, is National Coffee With A Cop Day, and all of the city's 10 police stations are observing the occasion with casual morning coffee breaks with the public.

"No speeches, no agendas—just informal conversation about the topics that matter most to residents and the police who serve them," the SFPD website says of Friday morning's events.

Coffee With A Cop is a national effort that began in 2011 with events held by Los Angeles County's Hawthorne Police Department. The coffee dates aim to "break down the barriers between police officers and the citizens they serve" by offering casual opportunities for officers and community members to interact.

With hopes of improving its relationship with locals, the SFPD has held a handful of Coffee With A Cop events in neighborhoods across the city so far this year. Here's where you can find your local Coffee With A Cop event on Friday morning, from 8-10am.
