With its sights set on bringing large-scale art shows and other community programs to its space at Fell and Laguna through the spring, Hayes Valley Art Works is hosting a fundraiser with the Hayes Valley Neighborhood Association from 3-6pm this Saturday.

The event, which was postponed by a week due to this past weekend's rainstorm, will be HVAW’s main fundraiser of the year, said Samantha Reynolds, curator of the current exhibition Present Ground

The money raised on Saturday will allow HVAW to showcase work by Bay Area artists—including Johnna Arnold, Michelle Echenique, Daniel Farnan, Jeremy Fish, Paulette Humanbeing, Stanley Mouse, Kate Rhoades, Emma Spertus and Emily Wick—and “keep the space open to the public four days a week through spring 2017,” Reynolds said.

The theme for the fundraiser, "Where the Paint Meets the Tablecloths,” was inspired by the idea of auctioning off a range of canvases. It plays to the idea of creating an artwork on canvas, "where paint literally meets a piece of cloth," Reynolds said.

Throughout the afternoon, canvases will be auctioned off, and guides will give tours of the exhibition Present Ground, which features work by 18 Bay Area artists recognizing the site’s evolution and “narratives left imprinted in the dirt.”

HVAW is also partnering with the Bayview’s Public Glass, which will offer glass-blowing demonstrations and sell hand-blown glass pumpkins made onsite.

Entry to the fundraiser is free and guests can RSVP by clicking below.
