According to permitting documents on file with the city, 1463 Haight St.—the long-vacant Hyperoptics storefront, which has been out of commission for a year and a half—is slated to become a new restaurant, Haight Street Hot Dogs.

Change-of-use permit plans filed with the city show that the hot dog spot is looking to outfit the 1,200-square-foot space with a full commercial kitchen and front-of-store seating for 12. No construction changes are planned for the exterior.

Aside from the obvious, details on what Haight Street Hot Dogs will have to offer remain slim. There's also no construction timeline, but we don't advise holding your breath, as change-of-use restaurant permits in San Francisco can take a while—for example, nearby The Ice Cream Bar took owner Juliet Pries over a year and a half to get through full permitting and open for business.
