As liberal-leaning San Franciscans come to terms with the outcome of last night's presidential election, Mayor Ed Lee offered a few words in a statement issued this afternoon:

“Today many San Franciscans are feeling anxious and nervous following this divisive and polarizing presidential election.

But San Francisco will remain San Francisco. And the values that bind us together as San Franciscans – inclusiveness, tolerance and compassion for one another – will carry us forward despite this election season.

San Francisco will continue to be a beacon of light, a city dedicated to progress, and a leader on issues that have changed the landscape of our country for the better.

Let us come together to show the nation and the world what we have always known, anything is possible when we are united for the common good.”

On one hand, Mayor Lee does have something to celebrate today. As KCBS points out, San Francisco voters rejected four propositions that aimed to shift power from the mayor to the Board of Supervisors.

However, the outcome of the presidential election puts to bed rumors of a potential ticket out of town for Lee via a seat on Hillary Clinton's cabinet.
