Pace Yourself: 15 Inner Sunset Events Worth Attending This WeekPhoto: Local Take/Facebook

A number of San Franciscans have worked to find ways to connect with their community in recent weeks, so it's not a surprise that many are also planning to shop locally this holiday season.

This week, we've found two opportunities to support local makers and crafters, but there's so much else happening around the neighborhood. You can learn to make your own ceramic Christmas ornaments, hear a trombone quartet play holiday favorites, or embrace your inner Jedi (and a cocktail) at the Academy of Sciences.

December 1-3: ClownCon Winter 2016 Showcase

For three nights, Circus Center is presenting "human cartoons, precision idiocy and lunatic elegance" in the form of ClownCon, a showcase staged by students of the center's Clown Conservatory.

Audiences can expect to be dazzled by acrobatic flair and merriment produced by what many consider to be one of the nation's most prestigious clown colleges. Admission is "pay-as-you-can," and the suggested donation is $10.

December 3-4: Vagabond Market at Local Take

Since moving into the space formerly occupied by Urban Bazaar, gift shop Local Take (1371 9th Ave.) has brought in a wide range of locally made products, many of which feature San Francisco iconography.

This weekend's Vagabond Market continues a tradition created by Urban Bazaar five years ago: the shop's backyard will be transformed into an outdoor market featuring "16 different designers each day," to showcase "some of the amazing local talent of the Bay Area," says the organizer.

December 3-11: SF Holiday Design Collective Pop-Up

Since 2013, Alphonzo Solorzano and Dennis McNulty have been operating The Little Lodge as an oasis for local artists and crafters. This week, the space will host the SF Holiday Design Collective Pop-Up, a "curated shopping experience" that celebrates local makers.

Here's a look at what else is going on around the Inner Sunset over the next week. To find more activities around town, or to submit your own, visit hoodline.com/events.
