Public Works Employee Shot Dead In The MissionPhoto: Google Maps

A 27-year-old man was shot and killed around 8am this morning at the corner of Vermont and 25th streets.

Mission Local reports that neighbors woke up to six to seven gunshots, which put Public Works employee Jermaine Jackson Jr. in the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Jackson—who was removing graffiti on the block at the time of the shooting—later died of his injuries at San Francisco General, a couple of blocks away.

The Examiner adds that Jackson was a father of two young children, ages 3 and 8, and had worked for the city since 2015.

According to Mission Local, police have not arrested any suspects, and Public Works is conducting its own investigation alongside the SFPD's.
