The election of Donald Trump to the Presidency has not been met with delight in much of San Francisco, where an overwhelming majority of voters (84.3 percent) chose Hillary Clinton as their candidate. For those seeking to protest the election or reflect alongside others who share their views, two events are being held in the city this evening.

The first protest will occur at the cable car turnaround at Powell and Market, and already has approximately 1,100 RSVPs at this writing. It's being sponsored by the ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) Coalition, which says it will oppose "racism, sexism, and war." The protest starts at 5pm.

Meanwhile, in the Castro, a candlelight vigil will be held tonight at Jane Warner Plaza, beginning at 6pm.

"We will gather to share stories of hope, we will gather to gain strength, to find comfort in one another, to be inspired by one another and to remember the power of our community as we join in solidarity," the organizers write.

A group in the Castro is also meeting on Saturday to plot a Castro United Against Trump effort, and "to organize, raise money, and plan next steps."

If you're attending any of these events, text Hoodline your photos and comments at (415) 200-3233, and they could appear in a story on our site.
