70-Year-Old Cyclist Critically Injured In Collision At 8th & HarrisonPhoto: Google Maps

Just before 9am yesterday, Sunday, December 11th, a cyclist was critically injured in a collision at Eighth and Harrison.

According to police, the 70-year-old cyclist was riding southbound on Eighth Street and ran a red light at Harrison Street. A vehicle exiting the freeway onto Harrison then collided with the cyclist.

The cyclist was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

While the SFMTA recently approved plans to improve safety on Eighth and Seventh streets for cyclists, pedestrians and drivers, the project ends at Folsom Street—one block shy of this intersection.
