A 63-year-old woman was transported to the hospital in life-threatening condition yesterday afternoon after being attacked by a neighbor in her residence's shared kitchen.

According to police, the victim was washing dishes between 11:30am and 12:30pm in the common area of her building, located on the 800 block of Clay Street (between Stockton and Grant Avenue), when her neighbor grabbed her from behind and hit her with an "unknown metal object."

The suspect, a 67-year-old woman, then jumped on the victim, hit her repeatedly then choked her—which caused the victim to pass out for an unknown period of time.

The victim was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and the suspect was taken into custody.
