Latin American tapas and cocktail bar Poquito has closed its doors after six years in the Dogpatch.

A tipster reported that the neighborhood restaurant and bar, located at 2368 3rd St., would be closing over the holidays, and co-owner Richard Vila confirmed the closure with us, saying Poquito shut down on Dec. 22nd.

Poquito first opened in October of 2010 with a focus on Latin-American small plates, such as arepas, empanadas and ceviche, particularly with an Ecuadorian twist, as well as specialty cocktails and sangria. 

In a 2012 Examiner interview, Vila explained why he initially set up shop in the Dogpatch, which has less foot traffic than other neighborhoods around town:

We definitely would have had a much different experience if we had opened somewhere in the Mission or in North Beach, somewhere that’s always bustling, but where you wouldn’t be able to build that rapport with your neighbors, which is nice.

The news comes amid a rash of year-end closures around the city, which include Show Dog and Machine Coffee on Market Street, and Lori's Diner and Sushi Boat in Union Square.
