The day that many San Franciscans have dreaded is finally upon us: tomorrow, January 20th, the nation will inaugurate Donald Trump as its 45th president. The inauguration kicks off at 9am PST.

Though many locals may see tomorrow as a day of mourning, a slew of marches and protests will give those who are frustrated, fearful and forcefully opposed to Trump's policies the opportunity to express themselves and come together in a show of defiance.

Tomorrow's biggest gatherings will be Friday's 8am march and rally, which begins at Justin Herman Plaza, and the 5pm protest at Civic Center Plaza. On Saturday, the Women's March will see thousands of participants march from Civic Center to the Embarcadero on Sunday afternoon.

Prior to the Women's March, the anti-abortion "Walk For Life" will rally and march down Market Street from Civic Center, with a pro-choice counter-protest also planned.

Confused about when and where the biggest downtown events are taking place? Watch (and share) our video guide to inauguration-related events, and read on for a full list of events and happenings.

If marching isn't your thing, there are other ways to mark the day, including a community gathering in Bayview hosted by the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival, and a free invitation to sit quietly and meditate, hosted by the San Francisco Zen Center.

And, if you'd like to use your wallet to participate locally, you can patronize one of the dozens of local bars and restaurants that will be donating proceeds to Planned Parenthood, the ACLU and other organizations.
