The last few weeks of crime in the city's northeast includes a wide range of misdeeds, including a stabbing, a suspected shooting and multiple street robberies.

This bi-weekly crime roundup was culled from SFPD daily reports.

December 30: Man Sets Himself On Fire

Just after noon on the 1000 block of Front St. in the Embarcadero, a 43-year-old man set his shoes on fire. When officers arrived and saw him standing in fire, they took him into custody. The suspect was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

December 31:

Aggravated Assault After Altercation

In North Beach, near the corner of Columbus Ave. and Green St. at 12:37am, a fight began inside a business that moved out onto the street.

A man, 38, pulled out a pocket knife and cut another man, 39. The suspect was taken into custody by SFPD and the victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

Pair Robbed At Gunpoint On Nob Hill

A robbery at gunpoint occurred just before 2am on the 700 block of California St.. Two women, 24 and 25, were walking when two men in a car, one in his early 20s and an unknown passenger, pulled up to them and stopped.

The driver got out and pointed a handgun at the two victims before grabbing one of the women's purse. The other woman tried to stop him and he hit her over the head with the gun, causing her to fall to the ground. A struggle continued, but the suspect was able to grab the purse and get into the vehicle and flee eastbound on California Street.

The victim who was hit was transported to a hospital in non-life threatening condition and lost her purse and cell phone in the robbery. 

January 1: Man Assaulted By Three Suspects

On New Years Day, just before 1am near the corner of Grant and Green in North Beach, three men sent a 26-year-old man to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The victim was walking down the street when the three unknown men approached and began punching him and kicking him. They then fled on foot eastbound on Green Street. 

January 2: Hot Prowl Averted 

In Russian Hill, on the 900 block of Lombard St., an unknown suspect forced his way into another man's home just after 4am. When the victim, 73, heard a noise, he went downstairs and noticed someone with a flashlight. The suspect then fled the home in an unknown direction. 

January 4: Purse Snatchers Run Over Victim's Foot 

At 10pm on the 1400 block of Mason St. in Russian Hill, a 24-year old woman was returning home when two men in their early 20s snatched her purse. One of the suspects then slammed her hand in a car door and a third unknown victim ran over her foot and she was trying to retrieve her belongings.

The three suspects then fled in a black sedan with her purse, two cell phones, credit and debit card, cash, Clipper card and a Chinese passport. She suffered minor injuries but refused medical treatment. 

January 6: Purse Snatching Ends In Arrest

A woman, 58, was standing near the intersection of Columbus and Chestnut in Russian Hill when three men aged 18-19 and one minor pushed her to the ground and snagged her phone and purse before fleeing in a car in an unknown direction.

Police were able to located the vehicle, at which time the suspects were taken into custody and the stolen items were recovered.  

January 5: Purse Snatcher Flees In Waiting Getaway Car

In Telegraph Hill on Nobles Alley at 11:30pm, a woman, 57, was walking when a man in his late 20s came up behind her and tried to take her purse. She struggled with the suspect and eventually fell to the ground losing grasp of her belongings. The suspect then fled with the purse containing cash and credit cards into an awaiting sliver 90s car with three other awaiting suspects. The victim was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

January 8: Hot Prowl Burglary

In North Beach, on the 2100 block of Powell St. between 6:50 and 8:30pm, an occupied home was burgled. The roommate of the 24-year old woman who was victimized was present when an unknown suspect entered the residence and took her her cameras, laptop, backpack and a bicycle. 

January 9:

Woman Shot With Suspected Pellet Gun

A woman, 50, was walking near the Stockton Tunnel in Chinatown on January 9th at 3pm when she walked past three teenaged male suspects, heard a "popping" sound and felt pain in the back of her head. She then fled on foot. Police suspect she was shot with a pellet gun.

Hot Prowl Suspect Taken Into Custody

Another attempted hot prowl occurred on the 100 block of Walter U Lum Place in Chinatown at 10:24pm. A woman, 72, was at home when she heard some noise on the roof. When she looked outside, she saw two men going down the fire escape. When officers arrived on the scene, they were able to locate one of the suspects, a 22-year old man, and took him into custody. The other unknown suspect remains at large. 

January 10: Purse-snatching At Aquatic Park

At 2:37pm on the 900 block of Beach St., near Aquatic Park in Fisherman's Wharf, a robbery with force occurred. A woman, 59, was at a museum with her purse on her shoulder when an unknown man walked up from behind her, pulled it off her shoulder and then ran across the street into an awaiting vehicle that fled the scene. She lost her purse containing her passport, Euros, credit cards and a cell phone. 

Bank Robber Makes Off With Cash

On the 100 block of Battery St. at 3:30pm, a male suspect in his late 30s walked into a bank and presented a note to a teller damaging money. The teller complied and the suspect took off with the loot. 

January 11: Victim, Co-workers Detain Stabbing Suspect

At 1:20pm on the 500 block of Market St., a 67-year-old man was working in the area when another man, 51, started arguing with him. The argument eventually turned physical, prompting the victim and some of his co-workers to attempt detain the suspect.

At that time, the suspect produced a knife and stabbed the victim in the chest. The group held the suspect until police arrived, at which time he was taken into custody. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
