Hoodline aims to keep our readers informed on crime and safety issues happening around the city. Here are some of the most recent crimes that have been reported in SoMa.

Stabbings

At 6:45am on January 9th, a male suspect reportedly pulled a 35-year-old male victim out of his tent at 10th and Bryant streets, then stabbed him. The suspect fled the scene, and the victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No arrests have been made.

Assaults

On January 14th, a 53-year-old woman was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after an altercation on the unit block of Oak Grove Street. At 7:09am, the victim reported that she and the 42-year-old male suspect got into a verbal altercation while driving in a car, which turned violent when the suspect struck her. She then called the police, who arrested the suspect.

Robberies

A witness called in a robbery/assault on the 500 block of Minna Street on January 15th. At 11:50pm, the witness saw a 33-year-old male victim being attacked by two unknown male suspects, who reportedly grabbed the victim's backpack and fled. Officers arrived, and the victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. No arrests were made. 

A 29-year-old man was injured during a robbery on the the 700 block of Harrison Street on Saturday, January 14th. At 12:56pm, the victim was getting into his car when the first suspect, a male in his 20s, started a verbal confrontation with him, which turned into a fight. At some point during the fight, a second suspect, also a man in his 20s, pulled a gun on the victim and demanded his property. Both suspects fled onto the Bay Bridge in an unknown vehicle. The victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

On January 12th at 7:55pm, a 26-year-old female was robbed and assaulted with a flashlight in a parking lot on the 200 block of Clara Street. The 28-year-old male suspect demanded the victim give him her money, and when the victim refused, he struck her with the flashlight. The suspect fled, and the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries. No arrests were made.

At 5pm on January 4th, a robbery and attempted kidnapping took place at 8th and Brannan streets. The 79-year-old female victim was approached by a male suspect of unknown age as she was getting into her car. He demanded she get in her vehicle with him, and when she refused, the suspect pulled out a handgun and demanded the victim's purse before fleeing on foot. 

Dognapping

A dog was stolen on January 11th at 10:18am, near the 600 block of Minna Street. The victim, a 46-year-old male, was walking his dog when a 30-35-year-old male suspect took the dog off his leash and ran away with it. The dog's owner was uninjured, and no arrests were made.

Burglaries

On January 17th at 12:59am, a 40-year-old male suspect was caught while attempting to burglarize a residence on the 1000 block of Folsom Street. One of the victims, a 32-year-old female, woke up hearing noise outside her bedroom, and found the suspect in the residence. The other victim, a 32-year-old male, also woke and confronted the suspect. The police arrived after the suspect left the property, detained him, and made an arrest.

Hot Prowls

On January 1st, a 26-year-old woman reported that someone had broken into her house on the 1000 block of Howard Street while she was sleeping, at some point between midnight and 2:30am. The victim told police she woke up to find her kitchen window open, as well as property on her floor that wasn’t hers. After going through her house, she discovered jewelry was missing. No arrests have been made.
