If you’re a light sleeper—or a night owl—you probably noticed today’s early-morning thunder and lightning.
As was expected, last night’s soaking was the second of three storms forecasted to dump about three inches of rain on San Francisco this week.
Some light rain remains in the forecast for today, but heavier precipitation is expected to begin tomorrow night, and continue into Sunday.
If you’re planning on participating in tomorrow’s Women’s March, keep your eyes on the weather report and plan accordingly; at present, according to the National Weather Service, there’s only a slight chance of showers.
Thunder and lightning are relatively rare occurrences in San Francisco, and many took to social media to share photos and videos of the extreme weather, with some drawing connections between the sky-splitting lightning strikes and today's transfer of power in Washington.
