Yesterday, North Beach fixture Rose Pistola announced that it had closed its doors at 532 Columbus Ave., after over 20 years in operation.

As Inside Scoop SF reported, owner Laurie Thomas held the final dinner service this past Sunday, just before the Super Bowl.

Next month would have marked 21 years in the neighborhood for the Italian restaurant. Like many restaurants that have closed in recent months, Thomas cited increased operating costs, labor shortages, and high rents in her decision.

Even though there are still a few years left on Rose Pistola’s lease, the restaurant exercised its option to close early, and the property manager is reportedly planning to find new tenants to take over the space.

Given the restaurant’s large size, Thomas speculated that it might be divided into two smaller spaces.

The following note from the restaurant was shared by Tablehopper yesterday:

“While it’s been an amazing experience, with many friends and great memories made over the years, we have decided that due to rising costs, it is no longer feasible to continue to operate.

We have loved being part of this neighborhood and are so grateful for the support of the North Beach community over the past two decades. Many thanks to all our employees, vendors, and customers for their support and patronage over the years.”
