Whether you're in it for the long haul or perpetually single, there are many ways to celebrate Valentine's Day. Romantic candlelit dinners have generally become the standard, but this weekend, embrace the wide range of options around Oakland that span from traditional to revolutionary.

The line-up for Paramount Theatre's Valentine’s Weekend Laugh Fest tonight includes Deray Davis, Gary Owen, Bruce Bruce, DC YOUNG fly, Timmie Hall and more. Doors open 60 minutes before show time.

Although Encuentro recently closed its doors, its owners have a Valentine's Day-themed pop-up planned for this evening. Encuentro is taking reservations for the 4-course meal with a seasonal vegan menu; to reserve, text 925-339-3688 or email [email protected]. Seatings are at 6 and 7:30.

Brought to us by the Treasure Island Flea, the Jack of All Trades Market takes place every second Saturday. This year, it's celebrating Valentine's Day early with a curated mix of local vendors, live entertainment and DIY workshops.

Here's a look at other Valentine's Day-related happenings around Oakland:
