Ay, Caramba: Mamacita Closes After 12 Years On Chestnut StreetPhoto: ゆみ U./Yelp

After 12 years on Chestnut Street, upscale Mexican bar and eatery Mamacita abruptly called it quits over the weekend, Inside Scoop reports.

Partners Stryker Scales and chef Sam Josi will reportedly maintain ownership of the space, opening a new restaurant—although no plans have been revealed yet.

Nate Valentine, another Mamacita partner, will reportedly turn his focus away from the Chestnut Street space and towards his two new projects in the soon-to-close Ruby Skye space, August Hall and Fifth Arrow.

The owners didn’t divulge their reasons for shuttering the Chestnut hotspot, and it’s unclear whether any Mamacita menu favorites will reappear on menus at its sister restaurants, Padrecito and Tipsy Pig.

Stay tuned for updates.
