The Civic Center BART station has been completely shut down this morning, after a suspicious item was found inside the station just after 9:30am.

Trains are not running through Civic Center in either direction, causing massive delays across the entire BART system, and locals are being advised to avoid the area.

We'll keep you updated on this breaking story.

Update, 10:03am: Muni service at the station has also been shut down, and Muni trains are not running. Passengers are being advised to take buses instead, and Market Street shuttles are en route.

Meanwhile, BART is advising those traveling to the airport to seek alternate methods of transportation, as "this could be awhile."

Update, 11:10am: The station is now reopening, and trains are beginning to run. According to ABC7, a bomb threat was called into the station, and police dogs were brought in to sniff the area, but found nothing dangerous.
