A man was killed in a stabbing in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood this morning, according to police.

Police were called to the area of Jones Street and Golden Gate Avenue shortly after 8am on a report of a stabbing.

The 45-year-old victim was found on the street. He was treated by medics but was pronounced dead at the scene.

No suspect information was immediately available in the stabbing and an investigation is underway, according to police. Sara Gaiser

Update, 3/21: The victim has been identified as 47-year-old Robert Matthews, who has no fixed address. Police said the suspect is believed to be a man in his 30s, but have not announced any arrest in the case.
