It's time for another edition of your local crime blotter. Here's a sampling of criminal activity that's gone down in SoMa over the past three weeks—since our last round-up. All details are pulled from daily updates provided by the SFPD unless otherwise noted.
On February 27th at 3:10am, a 52-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries after being stabbed by an unknown suspect at 5th and Shipley streets. Officers were flagged to the area where the victim was found suffering from serious injuries on the sidewalk. He was transported to the hospital, and no arrests were made.
4th & Harrison Stabbing
At 12:03am February 22nd, a 35-year-old male was stabbed near the corner of 4th and Harrison streets. The suspect, a man age 35-37, approached the victim, boasting that he was from a specific area of the city. When the victim walked past, the suspect stabbed him in the leg. The victim left the area and was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect fled the scene and was not apprehended.
A 35-year-old man was stabbed at 2:22am February 19th on the 500 block of 4th Street. Police say the victim was at a dance club with friends when he got into an argument with the suspect, a 23-year-old male. The parties separated after the argument. However, on the street after leaving the club, the suspect approached the victim and his friends from behind and stabbed the victim in the torso. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and the suspect was taken into custody.
Aggravated Assault With Hot Coffee
At 12:03pm February 18th, a 26-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man were assaulted at 6th and Stevenson. The victims were walking their dog when a 64-year-old suspect asked whether they planned to clean up their dog's waste. The male victim said he would get a baggie, but the suspect got angry and threw hot coffee at the female victim. The male victim and suspect then got into a “scuffle,” which injured the male victim. The suspect left the scene and was later apprehended by police. Both victims were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Robbery With Force
A robbery at 9:15pm March 2nd at 5th and Bryant streets left a 65-year-old man with minor injuries. The victim was walking when two 40-year-old male suspects approached, punched him in the face and took his cellphone. The suspects fled northbound on 5th Street. The victim, who may have lost consciousness during the assault, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No arrests were made.
16-Year-Olds Nabbed For Robbery At Gunpoint
On the 800 block of Mission, at 8:23pm March 3rd, a 24-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint by two 16-year-old male suspects wearing ski masks. The suspects approached the victim, pointed a gun at him, and demanded his wallet and his cell phone. After taking the victim's property, the suspects fled to a Bart Station where police took them into custody.
Shopkeep Robbed At Gunpoint
On February 14th at 6:15pm, a 26-year-old male victim was robbed at gunpoint by a man, age 40-45, on the 1100 block of Folsom Street. The victim was working the register of a store when the suspect walked in, pointed a gun at the victim and demanded money. The victim gave the suspect money from the register. The suspect then fled eastbound on Folsom Street on foot toward 5th Street. No arrest was made.
Pedestrian Struck, Injured At 12th & Folsom
At 6:39pm February 17th, a 58-year-old man was struck by a vehicle while waking in a crosswalk at the corner of 12th and Folsom streets. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No arrest was made, and police have not said whether the driver will be cited.
