Tenderloin Crime & Safety: ATM Worker Attacked & Robbed, Man Crushed Under Delivery Truck, MorePhoto: Brittany Hopkins/Hoodline

While we don't report on every incident, we do our best to keep you informed of major crimes and safety concerns in the neighborhood. Here's a selection of crimes reported in and around the SFPD's Tenderloin District over the past two weeks—since our last recap. All details are pulled from the SFPD's daily crime recaps, unless otherwise noted.

Woman Harassed, Robbed By Bicyclist  

A man approached a 63-year old woman near the intersection of Golden Gate Avenue and Hyde Street around 9pm March 9th, then started threatening her and demanding money. The victim handed over cash from her purse, and the suspect fled on a bike in an unknown direction. No arrest has been made. 

4-On-2 Assault, Robbery

Two men walking near the intersection of Turk and Jones were attacked by four men around 2:15am March 8th. Both victims were punched by the suspects, said to be in their 20s, and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The suspects fled on foot with stolen cash and have not been identified.

Man Crushed By Delivery Truck 

Just before 2:15pm March 7th, witnesses reported seeing a man, 28, crawl under a delivery truck parked near the intersection of Jessie and 5th streets. When the delivery driver returned to his truck, he did not realize the victim was underneath and began to drive away, critically injuring the victim. The victim was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and the driver remained on site and cooperated with the investigation. No further details have been released.

Mid-Market Arsonist Caught On Video

A woman in her late 40s or early 50s was caught on film setting fire to the intercom system of a building near the intersection of Market and 6th streets around 5:30am March 7th. Despite the footage, no arrest has been made.

Worker Attacked While Filling ATM

On March 6th, around 4:10pm, a 50-year-old man refilling an ATM machine near the intersection of Turk and Leavenworth streets was attacked by two men. The suspects punched him, stole an undisclosed sum of money, fled on foot and remain at large.

Early-Morning Reunion Leads To Robbery

A 33-year-old man was robbed just before 2am March 3rd near the intersection of Taylor and Market by two younger men he had met earlier in the evening. The two suspects pushed the victim against a wall and stole his cell phone and money before fleeing westbound on Market Street. No arrests have been made.

6th & Market Aggravated Assault, Robbery

Around 10pm March 2nd, a man walking on the 1000 block of Market (near 6th Street) was approached and grabbed by two other men. One suspect went through the victim’s pockets and stole his money and cell phone. Both suspects fled on foot and remain at large.

Tenderloin Shooting Victim Found In SoMa

A 30-year-old man was found suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound around 8am March 2nd near the intersection of 7th and Mission streets. The victim told police that he had been shot somewhere in the Tenderloin. No suspects have been identified.

Woman Arrested After Bus-Stop Stabbing

A 30-year-old woman waiting at a bus stop at the intersection of 7th and Market streets was stabbed by a 54-year-old woman, who was later arrested a few blocks away. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. 

Woman Attacked With Cellphone

Just after 2am March 1st, a 20-year-old woman asked a 31-year-old woman for a cigarette. When the older woman refused, the suspect hit her in the head with a cell phone and fled on foot. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening head injury and no arrest has been made.
