A man was shot and killed near a Tenderloin residential hotel Sunday afternoon, police said.

The man, identified by the medical examiner as 31-year-old San Francisco resident Antonio Stanberry, was shot near the Boyd Hotel at 52 Jones St., around 2:30pm.

Police said Sunday that officers found him suffering from a gunshot wound and took him to a hospital. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.

Police have said only that they are looking for a male suspect, and they have not released a detailed description or information on the circumstances that led to the shooting.

The homicide was the 16th to occur in San Francisco this year. 

Update: SFPD reported on April 6th that two arrests have been made in this case. On April 4th around 3:15pm, officers in Sacramento arrested 33-year-old Johnnie Reid and 24-year-old Tiana Jacobs, both Vallejo residents. The Sacramento police notified SFPD about the arrests. Reid has been charged with murder and Jacobs has been charged with accessory to the crime.
