There’s a new Mexican spot on the border of SoMa and the Financial District. Called Panzón, it replaces the former Rico Mex at 53 Stevenson St. and offers an updated interior and Mexican classics for the downtown breakfast and lunch crowd.

In the morning, look for breakfast specialties like chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, and assorted breakfast burritos. The lunchtime menu includes burritos, quesadillas, tacos, enchiladas, fajitas and more, with the new business's pledge to "use the finest ingredients without lard and preservatives," to "prepare fresh salsa made daily," and to offer "quality food and courteous service."

Paul B., the first Yelper to review the new spot on April 10th, said: "Fantastic burrito in the space of Rico Mex; family owned taqueria serving great food and a bit more polished space than Rico Mex; a few additions to the salsa bar, but pretty much the same great burritos.  At lease one of the former Rico Mex employees is with the new outfit."

"This use to be the Rico-Mex location that experienced a change in ownership," said Yelp user Robert C. "I can only comment about the nachos that I always thought were a good value.  The price was marginally increased I believe and worth getting. Glad to have this restaurant with some of the former staff returning."

Panzón is open weekdays from 6:30am to 4pm at 53 Stevenson St. (between 1st and 2nd streets).
