It's been a month since your last Upper Haight crime brief, and things appear to be simmering down. Here's the latest in mischief and mayhem.

A word to the wise: in addition to having a spate of Sit/Lie violations reported in the last month, the Park Station is cracking down on open liquor bottles on the street (party wisely), and the sometimes-enforced "three day rule" for parked cars. They're also cracking down on traffic violations around the JFK Dr. and Stanyan corridors.

Sponsored 4/20 festivities this month

In a diversion from tradition, the city approved its first officially sponsored 4/20 this year, with sponsorship from Alex Aquino, owner of Haight St. outfitter Black Scale. 4/20 falls on a Thursday this year, so plan accordingly and expect the same traffic disruption and chaos as seen in previous years.

2-alarm fire at Cole and Page

On the evening of April 3rd, a fire broke out on the second floor of 1810 Page St.  SFFD quickly responded and put the fire out. No injuries resulted, no neighboring buildings were damaged, and a missing cat was found after the fire.

Unprovoked stabbing on Stanyan

As reported previously, March 29th saw the unprovoked stabbing of a 35-year-old man while walking north on the 700 block of Stanyan. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect in the stabbing remains at large. Two days later, neighbors witnessed the detention of a suspect with what looked like a kitchen knife at Haight and Belvedere; however, SFPD spokesperson Robert Rueca said that was an unrelated mental health detention.

Rash of auto burglaries in Twin Peaks

On March 29th, between the late morning and afternoon, no fewer than eight car break-ins occurred—one while the driver was present—at 100 Christmas Tree Point Rd.

A number of other thefts from other points on Twin Peaks were also reported the same day; stolen items included cash, passports, and electronics.

'Decades of Fashion' owner arraigned for illegal furs

A year after an initial raid, Cicely Hansen, owner of vintage 'Decades of Fashion' was charged with nine counts of possession for sale of endangered animals. Later, she said the laws surrounding endangered pelt sales had changed, putting her in dubious standing.

Woman exposes herself then assaults volunteer

On the morning of March 11th, a woman exposed herself to Panhandle Park volunteers at the 1700 block of Oak St. She then slapped the volunteer supervisor in the face and threatened him with a rake before running away.

If crime has you concerned, there will be two community meetings this week.

Tonight at 5:30pm, Supervisor London Breed is holding an public safety meeting with new Chief of Police William Scott and Park Station Captain John Sanford.

Tomorrow night, Sanford will also be hosting Park Station's regular community meeting at the First A.M.E. Zion Church on 2159 Golden Gate Ave.
