For many on the Bright Side of The Bay, the weekend's high point will be the Warriors playing San Antonio on Saturday, but Oakland has plenty more to offer.

Oakland Veg Fest, a free festival that promotes "an animal-friendly, environmentally sustainable, and healthy lifestyle," kicks off at 11am on Saturday at Lake Merritt Amphitheater.

Also, the Oakland Book Festival is back with an impressive schedule of workshops and presentations.

If you're already in the middle of a good book, the forecast is perfect for some outside reading this afternoon at Mosswood Park, where a queer femme closet swap kicks off at 2pm.
