After two years of operation, Basque-inspired tapas restaurant Aatxe is closing its doors on May 28th, though it's possible that the eatery will be reincarnated elsewhere.

A few weeks ago, Hoodline broke the news about Cafe Du Nord's plans to transition from a cocktail bar back to a full-fledged music venue. The decision by Dylan MacGiven (West of Pecos, Woodhouse Fish Company) came after Cafe Du Nord's break in partnership with Ne Timeas and the Bon Vivants.

When we spoke to Bon Vivants co-founder Josh Harris, he said that while changes are afoot at Cafe Du Nord, no changes were planned for Aaxte, also housed in the same building.

However, Eater reported yesterday that Aatxe will soon close at that location.

While various factors led into the decision to shut down Aaxte in the area, Thomas McNaughton, founder and CEO of Ne Timeas restaurant group and executive chef Ryan Pollnow reportedly  plan to relocate the restaurant after they identify a new space.
