Kahnfections Bakery Brings Sweet Treats To 20th StreetPhoto: Hoodline

The former Green Heart Foods space at 3321 20th St. (between Folsom & Shotwell) has completed its transformation into new bakery Kahnfections, which opened officially today, Friday May 5th.

The new spot comes from Judy Kahn, who worked at Bernal's Sandbox Bakery before starting her own venture in 2011. The 20th Street space is her first and only brick-and-mortar location, and will serve everything from breakfast items like scones, biscuits, muffins and quiche, to sweet treats such as cookies, tarts and cakes—and the business may branch out into house-made breads and lunch offerings in the future. (See the menu here.)

David G., the first Yelper to review the new spot today, had this to say about the addition:

Everything looked and smelled great. I had a ginger scone (terrific) and a taste of one of the maple-bacon scones, just out of the oven, also really, really tasty. Coffee was damn good, too, perfect counterpoint to the scone. With regard to quality, selection, and price, the place reminds me a lot of the old Sandbox on Cortland, which I miss a lot since it became Pinkie's and then went away.

Kahnfections has the potential to be a great addition to the neighborhood ... The baker here is obviously very talented, and I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with over time."

Hours are 6am-3pm on weekdays, and 8am-3pm on weekends.
